Bruno Chaumet

Bruno Chaumet was born in 1957. He studied pharmacy and took piano lessons with Françoise Renet, who was Marcel Dupré’s deputy in Saint-Sulpice from 1955 to 1971.
He has been President of the A.A.A.M.D. since 1997. It is thanks to his efforts that many archive materials are now publicly accessible. Under his leadership, the A.A.A.M.D. has published several CDs with improvisations as well as a DVD, which is the only film document that shows Marcel Dupré making music playing the organ. It is his concern to make Dupré’s work known beyond his organ music. To this end, with the support of the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles and the French Ministry of Defence, he realised concerts of his piano music, his songs and, in 2018, his symphonic cantata De Profundis as part of the centenary of the 1918 Armistice.
After the publication of the French version of the biography written by Michael Murray and the book Souvenirs, he worked with Adam Freeman on the English second edition of the biography, thanks to the permission of Dupré’s family. In October 2021, he will give a lecture at the Dupré Festival, which will take place in Texas.
