Christoph Vandory

Christoph Vandory

Christoph Vandory is one of the most exciting musicians of his generation in Germany. He studied in Munich (Prof. Hariolf Schichtig) and Paris (Prof. Jean Sulem). The violist, who was awarded the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize, founded the Goldmund Quartet in 2010. With the quartet he has won 1st prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, 2nd prize at the Wigmore Hall Competition, the Karl-Klingler Prize at the ARD Music Competition and 1st prize at the Schoenfeld International String Competition in Harbin, China. The quartet is a regular performer on the world’s major concert stages. During the 2019/20 season, they toured Europe as ECHO Rising Stars and performed in the most prestigious concert halls.
Being a versatile musician, Christoph decided in 2017 to follow his deep fascination for orchestral music and to study conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
Christoph plays an extremely rare viola by Antonio Stradivari, the “Paganini-Mendelssohn” from 1731. This is a generous loan from the Nippon Music Foundation and part of the “Paganini Quartet”, which is made available to the Goldmund Quartet. Further information at https://www.christophvandory.com
