Johannes König
Johannes König, a native of Regensburg, began playing the cello at the age of six. His teachers included Kristin von der Goltz, Stephan Haack, Helmar Stiehler and Maximilian Hornung. In 2020, he completed his master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with top marks. Master classes with Natalia Gutman complemented his training. Johannes König was an academist of the Zermatt Festival and was sponsored by the Scharounensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic. Several recordings by the Bayerischer Rundfunk document his chamber music activities. He gained early orchestral experience as solo cellist of the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra and member of the European Union Youth Orchestra. In the 2018/19 season he was a member of the cello section of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra on a temporary contract. Johannes König holds a scholarship of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
