Part 5: Marcel Dupré – the improviser

Dupré’s improvisational skills were legendary. The composition Le Chemin de la Croix, for example, was based on an improvisation from 1931. A look at the manuscript provides information about Dupré’s compositional process.
Tobias Frank and Johann Vexo contrast the draft and the final version on the basis of the 10th station. They will also talk about the French tradition of organ improvisation.
